IFI7139 Week I

More and more are people using different e-learning environments, because it is cheaper, more operative and in some opinions-even better.

Most important thing in e-learning future is „leaner“. New environments, designs and facilities should support learning act and be leaner-centered. There is no one and only fixed and bulletproof solution for learning. Before starting the course, it is important to think which kind of result and learning activities would be best to consolidate new knowledge.

According to Hargadon, the key points for education in a Web 2.0 environment are „From consuming to producing:
From authority to transparency
From the expert to the facilitator
From the lecture to the hallway
From the „access to information“ to „access to people“
From „learning about“ to „learning to be“
From passive to passionate learning
From presentation to participation
From publication to conversation
From formal schooling to lifelong learning
From supply-push to demand-bull

I totally agree with previous points but also some questions arises.

-When there is no teacher-student relationship and „closed“ and one-way addressed knowledge any more, is not it a bit insecure according to data used.

And

-What about fair competition between people? When you have no „shelf“ to put your ideas on and everything is out to see for everyone all the time, does not it change the whole idea of competition?

IFI7139 Introduction about myself

I’m Anna and I am studying Interactive Media and Knowledge Environments at Tallinn University.

I had my bachelor degree in journalism and PR in Tartu.

I’m interested in media, arts, sports, politics and reading. I love interesting people and adventures.

I work in school and I play football in FC Fauna.
I am positive and active person and I have interests in various fields.
I worked in the radio for 2,5 years and my bachelor paper thesis was „Leaders expectations to radioprogram“.

I work as a volunteer in several organisations: in youth media club, were we teach how to do media for students, in Estonian Fund For Nature, were my area is oil pollution and I’m also part of organisation, which organises the biggest dance contest in Estonia .

And I’m also a supportive person for a 12-year-old boy

In short I like children, animals and nature ;)

My experience with online learning is related to my studies, first thing what came in mind are WebCT, Wikiversity, iCampus but there are more ;)

Review-"comments and ethics"

Topic of this paper was "Comments and ethics." It is very interesting, intriguing and topical issue. My recommendation would be to restrict the title or topic, as in this case, the paper is too vague, and it can be also seen in the work content. Maybe it is because of the low number of team mates, but many aspects are not recognized, and with two sub-themes the work does not form the one whole paper. However, the text was very interesting and well written.

Part which discussed Estonia, could include more different examples of portals and how they deal with this problem and how they have solved it at the moment for themselves. Ideally, the work could also reflect similar portals around the world. Then the comparison would have been a possibility.

I would also like to read more about the "collective brain", different approaches and examples. I think that newspapers should abolish an anonymous comment, precisely the fact that at the moment negative comments are more common because the anonymity encourages to comment and in my point of view personal comments would bring the truth out and the truth "of a collective brain behavior".

More could also be pointed out an anonymous and personal comment pluses and minuses, and explain why one or the other is preferred. I think theoretical background should also been attached.

One intriguing aspect of the subject are anonymous threats. For example in recently happened school shooting threat in Estonia. Does an anonymous gives the opportunities to threat?

References of the paper were real good.

In conclusion, I found a number of drawbacks in the work, and I saw opportunities to improve, but it was a paper which was done well, it was an enjoyable read. In addition, the work made me think, to argue against and to look for additional materials, so for me, it fulfilled its purpose.

Week 9 BIG spender

People are lazy and looking for simple solutions. Speaking about softwares and especially free software, the question arises whether it is easier and cheaper to use the GNU GPL or pay and use a systems which is more common and well-known, BUT costs (originally ;P). What is common? Of course I am talking according my experiences, but at least today I think that as long as it is easier for me to live with paying for my software then so it be.

Finally, time and nerves are also expensive!

Week 8 Anglo-American vs. Continental European school from the IP point of view

I agree with Hanna Lundströmiga. Culture plays a significant role in these two different schools. We feel different living areas and we interpret them through culture and background systems and we determine to what is right and wrong and how things should work and be. This is juts how it's working.

Speaking specifically of differences between these two schools, Mrs brings up the concept of "moral rights".

Copyright protection is divided into two categories, economic rights and moral rights. Moral rights focus more on the author as a person than economic rights which focus on the financial profit which can be made from a piece of work.

Lundstrüm's view is that Continental-Europe compared to Anglo-American is much more inclined toward to moral values and CE is protecting IP-based involvement in the moral values more than AA does.

I do not agree. Comparing these two societies (where these two schools game from) nowadays, it appears that moral rights protection is a much more pressing issue in America than this side of the big water. There are more court cases and controversy around this issue in Amerika than in Europe.

At the same time Lundstrüm is speaking:

The prime inspiration for both systems is the cultural importance of authors, but the focus of the Continental European is even more the author while the Anglo-American is more focused on the commercial part of the copyright.

To accept this, would like to know more about the subject. However, I have the feeling that the activities focusing on the profitability are no longer only America's theme, and more and more this difference will begin to decrease or even it would come over from one school to another. It Seems like places of weights start to change.

Week 6 Lets talk about the weather!

It was monday evening and I was working in the radio (I used to work there), alone. Time was 19:40 and I had 20 minutest to prepare news for 20:00 o'clock. I opened word document, copied articles from different sites and edited them. Themes for the news become ready I started to compose weather forecast, which should come after news. It was time to look air temperatures. I never copy air temperatures, because they are in some strange table in the web and I have to write those over one by one ..so
